PRACTICE PLANNING.

Whether doctor’s office or office community: A facility perfectly tailored to the respective needs simplifies the daily processes. But in addition to the functionality and ergonomics of the furniture, the harmonious overall picture of the rooms also counts. Because a pleasant atmosphere increases well-being and enables relaxed working.

At KAPPLER, we have decades of experience in the interior of treatment, meeting or office rooms. Consulting, planning and furnishing is our profession – whether for initial equipment, relocation or renovation.

Furnishings that are perfectly matched to the respective requirements simplify daily procedures. In addition to functionality and ergonomics of the furniture, the harmonious overall appearance of the rooms counts as well. A pleasant ambience increases well-being and enables a relaxed working environment.

We have decades of experience with the interior design of treatment, consulting or office premises. Consulting, planning and furnishing is our profession – be it initial outfit, move or renovation.

GENESIS OF A PRODUCT.

When production for our new “TORONTO” series started, most of the work was already done. Because excellent furniture takes a lot of time: time for intensive needs talks with our customers. And time for careful development and construction. Every product that we include in our program is also tested directly by customers over longer periods of time. And only if a piece of furniture passes all tests and exams – like TORONTO – do we include it in our product family. Only then will we be sure that it is rightly named KAPPLER.

Precise lines, precise dimensions, on-time delivery: we leave nothing to chance in design and production. Our state-of-the-art machinery with automatic plate storage, robot feeding on a BMG 5-axis milling machine and linking of machine and organizational software guarantees the consistently high quality of all KAPPLER products. But as intelligent as our production technology is, we are still flexible enough to manufacture well-engineered series furniture for each customer in a highly individual manner according to their own personal specifications. We do not offer off-the-shelf solutions. Because we know that our customers deserve more than the standard.

Visit KAPPLER MED + ORG. The Black Forest is always worth a visit. See and experience our products up close in the factory exhibition: feel the feel of the high-quality surfaces. Test the practical functions of the furniture. And if you want to see more than the end product, we would be happy to guide you through our production and explain the state-of-the-art machines. Our experienced sales manager Karlheinz Raisch is of course at your side with expert advice.

GENESIS OF A PRODUCT

When production for our new series “TORONTO” started, most of the work had already been completed. Excellent furniture takes a lot of time: time for intense need-discussions with our customers, and for careful development and design. Each product we include in our program is tested directly by the customer over long periods of time. And only when a piece of furniture passes all tests and inspections – just like TORONTO – do we include it in our product family. Only then are we sure that it does justice to the name KAPPLER.

Precise lines, custom-fit dimensions, on-time delivery: we don’t leave anything to chance with our design and production. Our state-of-the-art machine park with automatic panel storage, robot feeding system on BMG 5-axle milling machine, and linking of machine and organizational software guarantees the consistently high quality of all KAPPLER products.

We are nevertheless flexible enough to manufacture fully-developed serial furniture for each customer highly individually and completely according to very personal guidelines.

THE BEGINNING.

It’s not uncommon that coincidental meetings shape our lives: One day, the carpenter Rudi Kappler sat along the Nagold River, fishing. There, he started a conversation with an unknown man. When he started talking about his small joinery, he promptly received an order from the unknown man, who turned out to be a doctor: the doctor needed boxes for his index cards.

These small boxes were the inspiration for something major: Rudi Kappler optimized their shape, added rollers – and finally designed a desk as the fitting setting. The idea of specializing in medical practice furnishings with his joinery was born.

A single day at the river in the Black Forest provided the motive.

The Evolution of the Dental Cabinet

The First Dental Cabinet

The first dental cabinet is thought to have been invented in the early 1800s. But these early prototypes looked very different from the sleek, high-tech dental cabinets of today. If you’re outfitting your own practice, you may be interested to know about the evolution of dental cabinets and which features to prioritize while shopping for one.

Early Dental Cabinets

When dental cabinets were first invented, dentistry was not the robust and well-regulated medical practice it is today. As such, early dental cabinets emphasized equipment storage and presentation rather than safety or infection control.

Early dental cabinets were usually made of wood and boasted features such as:

  • Velvet lining
  • Brass trim
  • Drawers of various sizes
  • Storage area
  • Swing-out trays and doors
  • Revolving doors
  • Drawer dividers
  • Removable drawers and trays
  • Decorative designs and handles

Although these early cabinets helped keep dental tools within close proximity, as our understanding of dentistry and medicine evolved, it became clear that these cabinets would not stand the test of time. Today, these early cabinets are better suited for antique collectors than dentists.

Scientific Discoveries That Changed the Game

Throughout the 20th century, scientific breakthroughs and discoveries revolutionized several fields of medicine, including dentistry. As our understanding of dentistry and its best practices evolved, so did the dental cabinet.

Two of the biggest advancements in dental cabinet design came with the discovery of sterilization and the need to control infections. Breakthroughs in equipment sterilization played a major role in the evolution of the modern dental cabinet.

STERILIZATION

Once upon a time, people didn’t think twice about the tools at the dentist’s office and where they had been previously.

By the early 1900s, however, people had become more concerned with the possibility of dental tools spreading germs and pathogens from one patient to the next. Although the earliest forms of sterilization were a far cry from today’s rigorous protocols, these rudimentary practices did much to improve the overall cleanliness of various dental procedures.

Infection Control

In 1986 — amid the 1980s HIV/AIDS epidemic — the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) published the first set of comprehensive guidelines regarding infection control in dentistry.

As more clinical protocols were put in place, dental cabinet manufacturers responded by keeping pace and designing new cabinets that could meet the strict new health and safety protocols.

MODERN DENTAL CABINETS

All of the scientific discoveries made throughout the last couple of centuries have informed the design of modern dental cabinets. Rather than just keeping all of your tools close at hand, modern dental cabinets are designed to help your practice meet modern sanitation and sterilization protocols.

When choosing dental cabinets for your practice, you should look for cabinets that are:

  • Spacious enough to minimize instrument contact
  • Compatible with all washers
  • Made from high-quality materials
  • Easy to use and latch
